We’re modern! We are so excited to welcome you to our new website, which has been one of the Wauwatosa Historical Society’s most-needed updates. We are very grateful that it came together with a beautiful design and easy-to-use menu that adds a lot of new features.
First, I’d like to point you to our new Collections page. This huge enhancement lets us show off some of the items in our museum that otherwise people could not see all the time. Some items are too fragile--like letters or journals, and some are too difficult to exhibit--like the beautiful clothing from some of Wauwatosa’s founding families. We will continue to add items to this page, so check back often for new and cool stuff!
Another really great feature is that we have multiple forms of media: it’s easy for us to add video and audio to the site. For example, we were able to put some of our valuable oral histories online so that you can hear them anytime. We’re still learning how to use all these new tools, so we’ll keep adding to your experience.
One of the other new functions on the website is simplifying rental requests for the Little Red Store and the Kneeland-Walker House. We hope it will make it easier for you to find out about and pay for rentals: we KNOW it will be a lot more efficient for our staff.
We invite you to take a tour around the site, and test it out for yourself. It’s much more dynamic than our old one, so it’s easier to update and make changes. If you find something that doesn’t work, make sure you tell us so we can fix it. And please make sure you let us know what you think!
We are grateful to Kevin Deval at Pendletone for his thoughtful work to turn our wishlist into a smart, beautiful means for connecting with all you history lovers! He volunteered his web design, photography and writing expertise to make this awesome website happen.
